Car owners who need to remove the factory stereo for replacement or repair need to perform a few steps. The standard DIN size is 2 “x 7” and is commonly found in cars, SUVs and light trucks. Large and luxury cars have twice the size of the stereo as standard cars. This is called a double DIN. The procedure is as follows:

1. Lift the car hood to access the battery terminals. Use a monkey wrench to loosen the bolt that secures the cable to the negative terminal. Remove the cable from the battery and place it in a safe place. Please enter the car.

3. Use a Phillips screwdriver or a socket and screwdriver to remove the screws and bolts at the corners of the double DIN head unit. There are some cars that require some special extraction tools. Check the repair manual for specific instructions before pulling the cable connector out of the outlet on the back panel of the unit.

5. Disconnect the antenna cable leads from the outlet in the lower left corner of the stereo rear panel. Keep the panel in a safe place.
