Corvette History-Second Generation

Chevrolet began producing the first Corvette in 1953, making the Corvette the first true American sports car. Since then, Chevrolet has released six different generations of the ever-popular Corvette, called the C1-C6. The C6 is currently in production and is a $ 100,000 car.

The first generation of Corvette, the C1, was manufactured between 1953 and 1962. It was replaced by C2 in 1963. The C2 was the first Corvette generation to feature the Corvette Stingray Coupe. This generation was designed by Lawrence Kiyoshi Shinoda (Larry Shinoda) and styled by Bill Mitchell. This generation of Corvette has become an instant classic, and the work of Larry Shinoda and Bill Mitchell is responsible for most of the popularity of Stingray, Mako Shark and other classic Corvettes.

There are many other reasons why these cars have become classics today. There is the fact that all the first Americans who made them attractive in the patriotic era made sports cars. There is also the fact that there are really great sports cars with power. The 1963 Corvette had a 365 hp engine (272 kW), but that was just the beginning. Each new model is a little more powerful.

However, the C2 Corvette has always been more than a powerhouse, providing a comfortable ride for sports cars. This was partly due to the C2’s independent rear suspension. The C2 was originally designed with a split rear window design, but was discontinued in 1964 because it was suspected of being unsafe. In 1965, the C2 Corvette made another safety motivational change when it introduced four-wheel disc brakes to improve braking performance. This was also the year of the introduction of the so-called “big block” engine option, the 6.5 L V8 (6.5 L = 396 in³). The 1965 Corvette C2 was the first C2 with side exhaust pipes. This design was in use until 1970.

The C2 really started to be unique at this point, and the next year’s model, the 1966 Corvette, is one of the most popular and beloved Corvettes to date. This year’s model is still very popular and popular with collectors around the world. The 1966 Corvette was the peak of C2 generation cars, and the 1967 Corvette C2 was the last year before the introduction of the third generation.
