There were probably many cases where it was very necessary to illuminate the ground with some kind of light to find out what we were stepping into at night. 1.) What exactly is a puddle light?

The puddle light is what its name implies. A light that illuminates the ground to keep you out of puddles and other unwanted surfaces. 2.) How can these be attached to the car?

LED paddle lights can be attached to the vehicle using screws and double-sided tape. Double-sided tape is for fixing these LED lights in place, and screws are for fixing it permanently in place. Due to the environment in which these lights pass, double-sided tape is not a safe bond for long-term use.

3.) How are the lights wired to my car?

There are multiple ways to wire these LED paddle lights to your car. Some examples include tapping them on side door lights or map / dome lights. Another example is tapping a car radio or accessory wire to keep the light on when the car is on. There are multiple ways to turn on the LED, but the main idea to follow is to tap on the power you want the light to turn on. For example, if you want the LED to turn on when you open the door, just tap the power of the vehicle’s interior light.

4.) What do I need to be aware of?

These LED paddle lights are installed under cars that are high in debris and other hazardous materials, so some precautions need to be taken. These measures include, but are not limited to:

1. Use a vacuum hose to insulate and wrap the exposed wire to and from the LED lamp. Vacuum hoses are much more durable than the surrounding wires and are less likely to be cut by objects.
2. Silicone glue should be used on the exposed electrical parts of the paddle light. This is to prevent all kinds of moisture from causing problems.
3. Secure the wiring as close to the vehicle floor as possible. If the wire loosens or hangs, it can get caught in something and come off. Zip / cable ties are durable and efficient for fixing miscellaneous items.
