From classic to modern

car

The 360 GT sports car was produced in limited quantities and was taken over by the Ferrari 360 GTC in 2003, where the “C” meant competition.

The 360 GTC received a press release at the Bologna Motor Show in late 2003 and was in production until 2004.

With the full support of Ferrari in collaboration with Michelott, it was developed with the aim of being a great force in participating in the GT Championship.

The 360 GT performed well on the course, but it was difficult to compete with the Porsche 996 GT3 etc., which is why the GTC was introduced.

Its weight has been reduced from 1100kg to 1000kg on the 360 GT, and Ferrari has benefited from the experience gained in the GT race tests.

The GTC has been certified by the FIA for the strength of production of the 360 Challenge Stradale sports car, which derives many components such as front bumpers, side skirts, engine covers and rear (race qualification). section.

Based on our 360 GT racing experience, we have incorporated many changes, including:

  • Sequential 6-speed gearbox found to be more effective and faster in race conditions than the F1-style paddle shift system used in the 360 GT

  • Latest version of Magneti Marelli electronic control unit

  • Further development work has been done to create a version that further improves the aerodynamics of the car, especially the rear wing, and significantly improves the level of rear downforce.

Following the favorable demand from Ferrari’s customers for the 360 GT, the company has decided to sell the new GTC to a new and existing customer base.

That engine

The engine was subject to FIA requirements for racing in the GT class with two 30.8 mm air restrictors, but the output increased from 430bhp at 8500rpm on the 360GT to 472bhp at 8750rpm on the GTC.

With this additional output, the top speed increased to an incredible 200 mph plus, with a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds.

The benefit of the improved performance of the 3.6-liter V8 engine is the reduced fuel consumption.

An interesting fact is that when the air restrictor was removed, the output increased dramatically to 550bhp at 8750rpm.

This fact came about a few years later when the privateer-owned 360 GTC was fully tuned and race-trimmed, but was not the responsibility of the Air Restrictor and took part in premier endurance races such as Sebring and Le Mans. I did. ..

Competitors to the Ferrari 360 GTC sports car included the Porsche 996 GT3 RS and the Lamborghini Murcielago. Ferrari Performance:
