A dump truck is a commercial vehicle used to load and unload cargo from its original location to its desired location. Below are 12 simple steps to follow when unloading a dump truck. This always puts safety first in the dump procedure.

1.1. Before starting the backing procedure, check the dumping site for potential hazards. All posted and printed workplace safety standards must be observed to prevent work-related accidents. 8.8. When in the correct position, shift the gear to the parking position, set the parking brake and turn off the engine.

9.9. Go behind the dump bed and unhook or unlock the tailgate. Activate the power take-off (PTO) to raise the truck bed and push the brake pedal downwards.

10.10. When the contents start to pile up on the ground, horn and make a loud noise. This is to warn bystanders and staff that the discharge of materials has begun. 11.11. Step on the clutch pedal to shift to 1st gear and slowly advance the vehicle to completely drain the material from the bed. Do not try to move the truck at high speeds by depressing the accelerator and then the brake pedal, as a sudden stop can damage the trailer and rear doors.

12.12. When the material is completely unloaded, release the power takeoff (PTO) and lower the dump bed. When the bed is completely lowered to the truck frame, move it to the rear and lock the tailgate latch lever to secure the rear door. Now you can go back to the quarry and get more resources.
