As a motorcycle tour operator, I think our marketing material clarifies what we are doing, but nevertheless, over the years I have run, I have many unusual demands. I did. Although loosely related to motorcycle touring, the common thread of these non-standard requirements is always from people who do not have a motorcycle license. It should be a natural conclusion as a prerequisite for taking a bike tour.
An example of these requests is “Grandma turned 90 on her birthday and has never rode a bike, but would like to take her pillion on a tour because she wants a special day.” did. We strive to do so in a polite way and make some wise suggestions for alternative gifts, but declining a business is always a difficult decision.
Although rare, there was a request from a rider with an A2 license. These riders should be advised to bring their own bikes. However, the practicality of this can be a huge challenge for inexperienced riders, as they may have to ride 1,000 miles just to reach the start of the tour and another 1,000 miles at the end. There is sex. Not surprisingly, I don’t want to risk asking the rider for a side, especially when the deadline is approaching, but few can justify if they can afford a few weeks on their bike vacation. Because it tries to cover a high mileage every day between your home and the location of the tour, you will always arrive exhausted before the actual trip begins.
I recently had a series of unfortunate incidents that began while traveling to Fort Augustus to study a tour when I suffered a rear puncture. Attempts to repair the roadside proved ineffective, so I called the RAC that collected the bikes and took them to Inverness with the new tires. The next day, when I returned to Fort Augustus from Skye, the Gear Change River snapped! I can guess that when strapped to the van on the trip to Inverness, the straps put pressure on the river and probably weakened it. Anyway, a few roadside emergency repairs with some gaffer tape (always carry some!) Were immediately able to move the gear changer again to complete the research trip and return to Glasgow.
After returning to Japan, I ordered a new changer through local family-owned Benelli, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, and Sim dealers, and although my vehicle is Triumph, I also do service, maintenance, and MOT for all brands of motorcycles. I am using it because it is. A few days later, they advised that the part was in stock, and when I arrived, they offered to fit it for me. While in the store, I was attracted to the Benelli TRK502, especially the adventure bikes for A2 licensees and daily commuters. You can get out of the new box and go out for only £ 5,699. This seems to be worth the money. They suggested that I take it for a test drive while my repairs were taking place.
I’m used to getting on and off a variety of bikes, but with 29-inch short legs, many adventure bikes are a stretch for me. Often you have to slide halfway from the saddle to get to the ground, but Benelli has a saddle 815mm height was a comfortable reach for me. I am confident that this will give new riders a sense of security even for long-legged people.
I was immediately relieved by the bike. The saddle is very comfortable and the upright riding position is very relaxing. Windshields work well, but depending on your height, an additional deflector to divert the air over the helmet may help. A full bike is estimated to weigh about 250 kg, which didn’t feel too heavy, but it’s very well balanced with the low weight of the frame, so the estimated weight includes a full luggage set. Isn’t it? The bike I was riding had a full gigi pannier rack with only a top box that day. Please note that Givi’s rear and side racks, screen winglets, crash bars, and USB accessory power points are all standard equipment.
For technicians, the Benelli TRK 502 is a 499.6cc chain-driven twin cylinder and 6-speed gearbox. Remember that this bike is compatible with the A2 market, with a maximum output of 47 BHP (35 kW) at 8500 rpm and a torque of 45 Nm (4.6 kgm) at 4500 rpm. There are twin discs on the front and single discs on the rear. The front wheels are 110 / 80R19 and the rear wheels are 150 / 70R17.
My first impression was that the engine was pretty dull, but it produces only about one-third of what I’m used to, so don’t criticize it. Mapped to 47BHP I have little experience riding a bike with its low power. If this is all you are allowed to ride, you will find it not only comparable to other A2 restricted engines, but also preferable. I certainly prefer to ride Benelli over the restricted Suzuki. The TRK502 is pulled well in all gears and travels smoothly over the entire rev range. The brakes felt a bit spongy at first, but with a little more pressure they quickly adapted to the feel of the brakes. This is not a bad thing for inexperienced riders who may brake too hard and lock the disc. Another notable point is that ABS is also standard equipment because it is Euro4 rated.
If Benelli made a TRK with a larger engine, I think it would be a candidate for the BMW F700 / F800GS, Kawasaki Versys 650, Suzuki V-Strom 650, Triumph Tiger 800, Yamaha Tracer 700, etc., so I will consider one. Due to its ease of handling, luggage capacity, and economy, it is expected to be used for fleet rental touring overseas. The Benelli TRK502 is not only for young riders with limited licenses, but also for those who have a full license but are not interested in high speeds, those who want to remove points from the license, and those who are looking for comfortable economics. I will appeal. Benelli TRK502 checks all the boxes so it handles commuters well.
