Mercedes Benz and your safety

Mercedes Benz and your safety

Volvo has long been considered the number one automaker when it comes to vehicle safety. As the inventor of the “crushable zone” and “safety cage” to protect passengers, Volvo has set the course for the next few generations of global car manufacturing. Indeed, the automotive industry owes much to Volvo’s many safety contributions. Competitive to all of this is the work Mercedes-Benz has done to improve passenger safety. Taking Volvo’s concept a step further, Mercedes is now incorporating some technological advances into its vehicles to provide the safest riding experience available. Let’s take a look at the Mercedes PRE-SAFE system and how it can protect you and your passengers.

When we first hear about Mercedes’ new safety system, we must admit that we thought it would take years before it became available. How wrong I was! The PRE-SAFE system is the so-called PRE-SAFE system, which is an excellent way to improve passenger safety and should be adopted by other automobile manufacturers. Yes, it’s certainly not a cheap system, but with so much technological advancement, the price must go down and the system etc. will be totally widely available.

Introduced in some Mercedes models in 2003, the PRE-SAFE system operates automatically just before a collision. All you need is a panic stop or skid and the system will start working. Before the crash occurs, residents can expect:

Fits snugly.. The passenger seat belt is automatically fastened to prepare the occupants for a collision.

Fits snugly, part 2.. Along with the seat belt, the air cushion on the side of the seat swells to keep the person in position.

Seat movement.. The headrests and seats automatically move into place to provide optimal protection for the occupants.

close.. You can see that the window closes automatically to provide optimal support for the side curtain airbag, and the car with the moon roof closes when it rolls over.

Since its introduction, PRE-SAFE has been extended to additional Mercedes models and the original technology is constantly being tuned and improved.

New technologies being developed by Mercedes include the development of radar sensors that emit red lights to track vehicles hitting them. When this technology is ready, the PRE-SAFE system goes one step further and provides another way for occupants to avoid serious injury.

So is Volvo lagging behind in the development of collision preparedness technology? It’s not a chance. In 2000, Volvo released a whiplash-prevention seating system that prepares passengers for a rear-end collision by adjusting the seating position to minimize impact. In addition, the company is working on a radar system that can detect when a driver is out of the lane. This feature also utilizes an electronic eye to monitor invisible blind spots through side mirrors.

Ultimately, a defensive driver is the best driver, but sometimes the situation is out of full control. The Mercedes PRE-SAFE system certainly helps a lot, reducing serious injuries and even preventing some deaths. The best technology!
